The Levent Market
Weekly on a Tuesday there is a market (Pazar) in Istanbul and we chose to visit the Levent market for you. It is a treasure cove of wonders where there are no limits to what you may find! Fruits, vegetables, pastries, clothing, hand bags and much more. It is a frenzy of activity and gives you a real feel of Turkish culture with market traders and visitors haggling, shouting and jostling with laughter or bartering. People in Istanbul love markets for a few reasons, one of them is the fact that all the produce is fresh and brought in from rural farms so the chance of being able to buy something that is actually organic or grown without the use of pesticide is more likely. The second reason is price (compared to supermarkets), the prices are nearly 30% less. Be aware of the man that says he has the latest collection of Prada it may not be the real deal but ”usable” never the less, just make sure you barter well and hard!
