Huge Chunks of Maumee River ice on River Road after Ice Jam caused Flooding at Side Cut

I spent the afternoon on March 12th 2015 exploring the Maumee River. Each year I look forward to the ice floes and this was the day to go out and the power of the Mighty Maumee.

By the time I got here, I was out of battery in any of my stabilized cameras so I held the GoPro and just walked the road. This video is pretty much raw footage from the walk, nothing fancy and it is a bit bumpy.

When I arrived, the street was lined with cars and people were walking River Road to see the ice. Rangers were around and said it was okay to take a look. As we all were walking back up the street the Sherriff and a ranger arrived asking everyone to come up closer to the barricades as the area could quickly flood again.

Please do be careful if you go out this was as the river is very unstable this time of year and flash flooding is a real threat.
