When NYTimes multiple-bestselling novelist Sandra Brown walked into a room with more that 150 people in black tie on the evening of February 20, 2008, she thought she was part of an event that had been in the planning stage for almost year to honor famed Texas pianist and legend Van Cliburn.  She had been led to believe it was to recognize the 50th anniversary of Cliburn's winning the prestigious Tchaikovsky competition in Moscow at the height of the Cold War.  But Van Cliburn was nowhere to be found that evening.
