Some crypto wallets use a 12 word seed, other use a 24 word seed... Some hardware wallets, even those that support 24 words seed will default to using a 12 word seed... Some even let the user choose at the beginning (Safepal, Electrum)... What is the difference and does it matter? A quick look at the difference in entropy, the impact for those who do split or scramble their seed.

If you are new to Crypto, my suggestion is that you start with buying ~$150 worth of Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin @ Coinbase and get familiar with storing it, moving it around, etc.

Be safe and buy them direct from the manufacturer. (Not just through some random on eBay, Amazon, etc)
