Hiking Cooyoyo: wild camping on the Castle, Budawangs, Morton National Park 4K - Hiking Australia
A brilliant Australian hiking adventure climbing the Castle or Cooyoyo, in the Budawangs, Morton National Park, NSW. This hike is always a challenge, it can be done as a day hike or an overnighter. Most sensible people choose to camp at the formal camping ground below the summit at Cooyoyo Creek Campground. But for this trip we wanted to overnight camp on top to watch sunrise and sunset. Although this video isn’t a guide - I show all the technical sections of the climb up including: the tunnel, the ropes, the chimney.
Along for the hike was Laura and Jimmy. We did this hike after the devastating 2019/2020 bushfires but it was good to see patched of green still remain in this section of the Budawangs.
I’m an ultralight hiker so I was tarp camping. My totally pack weight was 9820g or 5880g without gas and water.
I acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of this land, I pay my respect to Elders past and present.
Thanks for watching and thanks so much for everyone who has subscribed - I cracked 400 the other day and I am stoked.
