Ferrari 212 Export: An Iconic, Wayne Obry-Restored Touring Barchetta for a Gentleman and Lady

With its rich racing pedigree and jaw-dropping design, the 1951 Ferrari 212 Export Touring Barchetta is among the most historically significant early Ferraris ever offered at auction.

One of only eight 212 Exports finished in Touring’s Barchetta-style Superleggera bodywork, chassis 0136E debuted at the 1951 Paris Salon before being raced by Irish driver Robert Baird in the Tourist Trophy at Dundrod. It went on to compete in the Grand Prix of Rio de Janeiro and the 1000kms of Buenos Aires before resurfacing decades later and undergoing a meticulous restoration by Wayne Obry of Motion Products Inc., including reuniting it with its original Colombo V-12 engine.

In 2013, this Barchetta made its post-restoration debut at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este and followed up with a First in Class win at Pebble Beach and a Platino at the Cavallino Classic. With a legacy that spans early Ferrari racing, international concours, and expert restoration, this 212 Export Touring Barchetta represents a rare opportunity to own a foundational piece of Ferrari history.

The car will be offered as a main attraction on Saturday, August 16th at Mecum Monterey.
