Thousands March In Hungary As Orban Faces Growing Opposition To Pro-Russia Policy

Tens of thousands of people marched in Budapest on October 23, the anniversary of the Hungary uprising 1956 against Soviet authority that was violently crushed. Prime Minister Victor Orban led what he called a “Peace March,” stressing his opposition to military support for Ukraine, while his main challenger, Peter Magyar of the Tisza Party, led a mass opposition protest. Magyar supporters criticized Orban's pro-Russia stance, while Orban argued the Ukraine war should be finished as it's "blocking the growth of the European and Hungarian economies."
