Maryland Midland Railway: Union Bridge to Highfield: December 2, 2020

So I did a first last week and that was chasing a train. I decided to chase the Maryland Midland Railway Union Bridge to Highfield train better known as UBHF. UBHF starts in Union Bridge where they build the train. Once they are finished building, they proceed to Thurmont. Once in Thurmont they conduct some switching operations. Once finished in Thurmont they proceed north towards Highfield. Once they arrive in Highfield, they interchange with CSX. CSX grabs the train that Maryland Midland brought up and Maryland Midland returns back down the mountain with the train CSX brought. The started out early at around 0800hrs. I chased the train all the way up to Highfield stopping at several locations along the way to grab video and photos and followed the train back down to Thurmont, where I called off the chase.

Overall, I am very pleased with this run. Especially since this is the first time, I've ever chased a train. I was able to grab many of the photos that I wanted and some decent footage. I did make some rookie mistakes. Such as not having the right SD card in my video camera. So after the third stop, I was no longer able to record on that camera. The rest of the trip I used my car's in car video system to record what I could. I have plans on doing this again, although it will most likely have to wait until spring time for Maryland Midland has switched to their winter schedule. Which means UBHF will be running in the evening until it starts getting warm again. And I'll make sure I have the right SD card that time.
