Pabu had a quick catch up with Bumi & Kevin! As usual Pabu & Kevin refused to submit to eachother and end up rough housing 🤷🏼‍♂️
I cannot stress enough, Pabu is not being hurt despite what it looks like... The reality is that the behaviour shown is 100% not sexualised behaviour nor has it ever been, let alone Kevin or Pabu showing any sexualised behaviour other then to that of a female.
What actually happened was (this is where people remember play dates go for like 2hrs or more, I only post snippets) Kevin and Pabu played when they first saw each other but then Kevin soon lost interest like he normally does and wanted to play by himself or with Bumi's owner. Pabu being Pabu does not take no for a answer and constantly and continually followed Kevin trying to get him to play, Kevin would receptively fly or run away only to have Pabu follow and get up in his face beep booping over and over and over and over. Once again Kevin exhibited over half hr of trying to get away from Pabu and do his own thing until he eventually snaps at Pabu and they squabble.
So what we look at is the dynamic and intent, Pabu is not wanting to fight he wants to play... Kevin wants to get away and is annoyed at Pabu for not taking no for a answer, as a result they squabble. In almost every species assertion of dominance results in both parties trying to have higher ground or be on top, being pinned or on the bottom is vulnerable. This does not mean it's sexual behaviour as even when two human brothers fight the goal is not to be the one lower, at no point is someone saying.... "that brother is trying to get on top, he must want to express sexual dominance and mate"...... thats weird lol and it applies to almost every species.
As Pabu was not wanting to fight he was in defensive mode, you dont see Pabu attacking Kevin but simply holding his ground. Just because Pabu does not want Kevin on his head or back does not mean he's thinking "im not a girl Kevin" as that implies it's sexual when in reality a logical thought would be "umm why you mad? why you attacking? dont touch me!"
I have uploaded many videos in where Pabu is the aggressor and you can clearly see Pabu initiating dominance and putting Kevin in his place (pabu is just as agile). If a real fight were to occur (which has happened several times between the two) Pabu would almost always come out on top as he always has in a mutual fight, though this does not mean either are injured simply that Kevin runs away and Pabu does not follow.

Remember these are not pet indoor parrots, they are free flighted and will always fly away when and if a situation becomes too uncomfortable.

I also took a slow motion video of their “dispute” which clearly shows there’s no actual biting (we would step in if there was obviously) but more just two boys bickering, much like when dogs “fight” and it looks scary though it’s actually just sound and show. Same applies here :)

Bumi is doing fantastic and is now going through a molt which is why he looks a little scruffy, actually all our birds are starting to molt hence Pabu’s crazy alfalfa crest 😂

Not much flying today, everyone’s being fat little potatoes and just wanting to hang out with us. This time of year is borrring lol also it’s getting so much closer for me to go pick up Roku & Korra from their leap frog summer camp! 😍😍 I cant wait im gonna crash tackle them into cuddles, even if they act like they don’t want it 😛

Oh and Bumi’s mum is getting a new turquoise baby girl for Miko! (As mizu passed away many months ago) plus we have new free flight birds being trained in the next coming months!
