Xbox Series X and Series S are home video game consoles developed by Microsoft. They are both scheduled to be released on November 10, 2020 as the fourth generation of the Xbox console family, succeeding Xbox One.

Microsoft is prioritizing hardware performance, including support for higher display resolutions (up to 8K resolution) and frame rates, real-time ray tracing, and use of high-speed solid-state drive to reduce loading times, on the Xbox Series X. The Xbox Series S uses the same CPU and reduced GPU, memory, and internal storage and lacks an optical drive.

Microsoft is promoting a gamer-centric approach to their new hardware, including free upgrades of enhanced versions of Xbox One games via their "Smart Delivery" initiative, games optimized for the Series X hardware, and backward compatibility with previous generation Xbox games, controllers and accessories. The console will also take advantage of their game subscription service Xbox Game Pass, as well as remote cloud gaming on mobile devices via their cloud game-streaming platform xCloud.

SSD storage is a new piece of hardware in the Xbox range of consoles, it allows for improved gameplay, larger game worlds and much faster loading times. The new quick resume feature allows multiple games and apps to be suspended at once, allowing the user to pick up from where they left off instantly without the app restarting. Think of it as having a number of programs opened on a Windows desktop and being able to minimize a program so they are no longer on the screen but are still open for quick access. The Xbox Series X will also be able to resume games from where they were left off even after a system reboot. Dynamic Latency Input will help get rid of input lag. This new feature will synchronize input immediately with what is displayed, controls are aimed at being more precise and responsive. The Xbox Series X will support up to 120fps, allowing developers of titles to go above and beyond the usual 60fps output from last generation.
