In the wake of possible budget re-allocation, THE SKIN DEEP worked with Richmond, CA Police Chief Bisa French to foster conversations that revealed the depth and complexity of the woman behind the badge and the relationships in her life. This week we will be sharing that story across multiple days and conversations. As an elected councilmember of Richmond, CA, Demnlus was a leading voice behind the vote to re-allocate the city budget away from the police department. After an emotional budget cycle where feelings ran hot, Demnlus and Bisa sit across from each other to discuss the aftermath of their political decisions and ability to work together.
