MONS X LAAX OPEN

Nothing beats snowboarding in Laax! It's always a pleasure competing at the Laax Open every year with a talented group of guys. It feels good to get back on the horse and straight into my regular competition schedule. The riding was better than it's every been and the competition level from the riders met expectations. Laax was truly a blast!

I started the week off really feeling the course and my riding. Getting right back into the flow of competing and dialing in my run. Practice kicked off the day after we arrived as we were met with unbelievably sunny weather. I made it though qualifiers after putting down a solid run, walking away from that feeling my usual self. Semi-finals was a true nail biter after falling on my first run, giving me no choice but to land the second. I just barely snuck through into finals on top of the bubble spot after scoring 0.6 of a point above the existing position. With that small victory in mind, I knew I needed to refresh myself and improve on my run for finals. The following day I practiced a run that I felt at the time I could land confidently. However, circumstances changed during finals when I was unable to land both of my runs. I was disappointed at first knowing in my head that I was capable of competing with a better run. That's just the nature of the sport, one day you're on it, the next, your out of balance. I feel strong with my riding and excited to take this momentum into the rest of the competition season!
