OpenCore Hackintosh - How To Create Windows PE USB (For USBToolBox Port Mapping)
In this video I will walk through the guide on how to create a Windows PE USB. This is useful for the application in which we are using this today. We will be mapping our USB Ports for our OpenCore Hackintosh installation.
You only need ONE installation of Windows 10 or 11 somewhere to do this tutorial. Once you have your Windows PE Installation Media, you can reuse it on multiple devices as much as you want.
You may not always want to install a full-fledged Windows installation on a separate disk or partition within your hackintosh. But if you have a separate Windows machine somewhere within your reach to help make this media, then that is the way to go.
Once you create your Windows PE (WinPE) USB, simply copy the USBToolBox Windows.exe to this same USB and you can run it from the Windows PE command prompt. Insert your Windows PE USB into your future hackintosh, and follow the USB ToolBox instructions from there on out. The program will be located on your USB in the C: drive while running the Windows PE mini OS on your PC.
When you save your UTBMap.kext, it will put the output right on your USB drive. You can copy this .kext folder right into your EFI/OC/Kexts folder along with all your other kexts, for your particular OpenCore Hackitosh build.
