Kurtz (1954) Professor of Entrepreneurship at the MIT Sloan School of Management and one of the world’s most influential voices in economics, policy, and technology. In this interactive conversation, Simon discusses his current research, how he brings real‑time global economic insights into the MIT Executive MBA classroom, and what prospective EMBA students can expect in the classroom.

In 2024, Simon was awarded the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel, alongside Daron Acemoglu and James A. Robinson, for their groundbreaking work on how institutions form and shape prosperity. In 2025, he was named an AI Ambassador by the British government, advising its Tech Town initiative and other efforts to harness emerging technologies for productivity and shared prosperity.

Based on his courses at MIT, Simon now runs a podcast, Power and Consequences, with Gary Gensler (former chair of the US SEC), dealing with economics, technology, and policy.
