Historic mural by George Davis gets a new lease on life on Hobart apartment building | ABC News

When George Davis won a competition to design a mural outside Hobart's former ABC television studios in 1960, he never thought it would still be there today.
Made up of 150,000 Italian glass mosaic tiles, the mural covers 19 metres along the side of the building on Sandy Bay Road.
The building will be demolished to make way for an apartment complex, but the mural, which is permanently listed on the Tasmanian Heritage Register, is set to be maintained at street level as part of the new development.
