Paul Murray calling on Labor to lower petrol prices with its $20 billion surplus

Sky News host Paul Murray says the Albanese government needs to tackle the cost of living crisis, especially rising petrol prices now that the Voice referendum has failed.

“Petrol prices – that’s something the government could do something about tomorrow,” he said.

Mr Murray claims Labor can achieve this by allocating some of its $20 billion surplus from the 2023 Federal budget.

“By cutting petrol prices by 25 cents it would cost them $3 billion over just six months,” he said.

“So let’s say $6 billion of the 20 extra they already have they could spend on reducing petrol prices by 25 cents for the next year.”
