13th C. Silver from a supermarket?! & Toddy's Digs @ Bannockburn - Sun 29 July 2012

A surprise 'hammered' coin turns up in the most unexpected of places on July 28! A star find with no detector! Surely not, who's THAT lucky?!

Back in regular land, a great day out in Bannockburn, Stirlingshire through the Toddy's Digs forum (toddys-digs.co.uk). Not much turned up for me, although I did keep my silver streak going, even if it's not exactly what I was after! Dyker 50 on the forum with the star find, a rare Austrian Silver Thaler of Archduke Ferdinand, 16th C. in immaculate condition. Well done to him! Another few hammered including an Eliz. I Groat turned up. Productive area, just didn't get my detector on top of any coinage of note. Sun 5th I'll be back up there on the hunt once more!
