Probe Into Financial Statements To Continue

Prime Minister Ad Interim Colm Imbert is defending moving ahead with an investigation into the matter with the Auditor General to find out exactly what transpired.

Speaking to reporters, he referred to the ‘cheque clearing system’ which he initially pointed to that may have caused the error in the beginning.

He said Government needs to conduct this investigation to see whether that system, which was implemented in 2023, is effective or whether human error was the contributing factor.

He was adamant that the investigation does not break any laws, noting that it is not being done for the removal of anyone in office.
