New Update for Canada Study Visa | More Restrictions #canada #studyabroadcommunity #studyincanada

🇨🇦 Breaking News: Today, the Honourable Marc Miller announced upcoming changes to Canada's International Student Program, including updates on study permit cap levels for the coming years and planned changes to the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) program. 🇨🇦

What You Need Know:

1. The Canadian government has set a target for study permits issued of 437,000 in each of 2025 and 2026. This represents a 10% reduction from 2024. Data from ApplyBoard shows that since the cap was announced, study permit application volumes have dropped by around 40%.

2. Master’s and PhD students will be included in the 2025 and 2026 caps, and will need to submit a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) as part of their study permit application.

3. PGWP eligibility rules are set to change in the coming months. They will be unchanged for university graduates. They will also remain unchanged for public college graduates who graduate from a field of study linked to labour shortages.

4. Work permits for spouses of master’s students will be limited to only those whose spouse’s program is at least 16 months long.

We look forward to additional details in order to offer greater clarity and transparency about these changes and their effects on current and prospective international students.

Hope this helps✨
