Zeynep is born into a home marked by poverty. Due to severe financial hardship, her mother, Sakine, entrusts her to Nermin Hanım, the owner of the house where she works as a domestic helper. Growing up in this household, Zeynep has access to every opportunity life can offer. Until her university graduation, she has no contact with her biological family.

On the birthday that marks her first step into adulthood, Zeynep decides to embark on a journey to discover who she truly is. Despite the objections of her second family—especially Nermin Hanım—and driven by the guilt she feels toward her mother Sakine, she chooses to return to her old neighborhood.

As she constantly struggles with the question of who she really is and which family she truly belongs to, her path crosses with Mehdi, a brave, generous, and dependable man from the neighborhood where she was born. Though strong and trusted by everyone around him, he is as lonely as he is resilient.

By accepting a life shaped by the footsteps of their mothers, Zeynep and Mehdi first find love and then begin to discover themselves. Although life does not allow them happiness easily, their struggle never comes to an end. Zeynep and Mehdi will find themselves torn between becoming prisoners of the destiny determined by the home they were born into or managing to write their own destiny.
