Every creature is better alive than dead, men and moose and pine trees...
"...and he who understands it aright will rather preserve its life than destroy it."
- Henry David Thoreau
Note how the Moose walks in his own footsteps. There was a heavy early snow and then a deep freeze so there is a crunchy terrain penalty traversing it. As a two-legged creature, I tend to walk in my own footsteps to and fro, and the Moose does it naturally with the hind hoof stepping into the hole created by the front one. This leads to a peculiar gait but saves energy.
