Being disfellowshipped and disassociated with no one to turn to left me without knowing who I was capable of being, the strengths or possibilities I had due to the lingering rules and beliefs I have carried around for the past 30 years. After losing my mom, the door was opened for me to grieve the life I had experienced with the JW’s and where my step -fathers violence was protected by the elders throughout my childhood.
