DIY Antibacterial Brown Sugar Scrub - a video by Better Shea Butter

What You'll Need:
5 oz of Salt
2 oz of Brown Sugar
2 oz of Almond Oil or Olive Oil
1 tsp of Castor Oil
40 Drops of Tea Tree Oil
30 Drops of Lavender Oil
30 Drops of Eucalyptus Oil

Add Sugar and Salt to a Blender and pulse blend a few times until the granules are similarly sized.
In a separate container mix the Almond Oil, Castor Oil and the essential oils together
In a bowl, mix the sugar and salt with the oils and stir until all the granules are coated by the oils. Add up to ten more drops of essential oils if you'd like a stronger scent.
Put in a nice jar or container for storage.

Today we're going to make a really simple antibacterial brown sugar scrub for silky soft hands.

So for this scrub you're gonna need five ounces of salt, two ounces of brown sugar, and for scrubs brown sugar is an awesome alternative to white or cane sugar, because it's moist and it absorbs carrier oils really well so you don't have to put as much liquid in your scrub.

You'll also need two ounces of almond oil which is an amazing healer for scrapes. So for dry and chapped hands, it's the perfect oil to use and if you're allergic to almonds or if you don't have this oil handy, you can substitute it with another light oil like sunflower or olive.

And to this we're gonna add one teaspoon of castor oil, 40 drops tea tree essential oil, and 30 drops each of lavender and eucalyptus essential oil.

The brown sugar granules are bigger than salt, so you want to begin by adding the sugar and salt in a blender and pulse blend a few times until you can see the granules are all similar in size. This way they'll do a better job of exfoliating.

Now in a separate container mix the almond, castor, and essential oils together.

And just like all your homemade creations you can use whatever essential oils you prefer or have available. However the three essential oils we chose for this recipe are known for their antibacterial properties.

Now in a bowl, mix your sugar and salt with the oils and stir until all the granules are nicely coated. Smell it to see if you like it, otherwise you can add up to ten more drops of whichever essential oil you want to stand out the most.

Put it in a nice container and add a little spoon or other utensil that you can use to scoop out the sugar scrub. And this way you avoid dripping water into the container.

And now you have a wonderful, handmade inexpensive gift.

And how do you use a scrub by the way? First you wash and rinse your hands, then put a good amount of scrub all over, and give them a nice massage. Then rinse and dry, and your hands will be squeaky clean and silky soft for hours.
