What are you waiting for? (Luke 2: 25-38, Simeon and Anna)

1. Simeon obeys God’s word in waiting for Jesus (Luke 2: 25-35)

A.Two physical characteristics (Luke 2 :25a)
His name and where he lived.

B. Three spiritual characteristics (2: 25b-26)
He was devout.
He was waiting for the consolation/ comfort of Israel.
The Holy Spirit was upon him.

2. Anna obeyed God’s word in worshipping Jesus (Luke 2: 36-38)

A. Anna’s characteristics (Luke 2: 36-37a)
Her Name - Anna.
What she did - she was a prophetess.
She knew the grace of God in her life.
She was advanced in age.

B. Anna served God (Luke 2:37b)
She worshipped and she prayed.

C. Anna spoke of Jesus (Luke 2:38)
