The all-new 2022 Mazda CX-50 is NOT your average BORING crossover here’s why!

Normally I wouldn't be too excited but the 2022 Mazda CX-50 is a little special. It has some pretty unique features for this segment that are a unusual but appreciated and it also showcases a very cool approach to design compared to the regular CX-5.

We’re going to go over some of the spec and tech of the 2022 Mazda CX-50 and then I want to show you the differences in design compared to the CX-5.

Off-road mode is supposed to make the CX-50 feel like you're on-road. It’s one single setting that lets the computers on the car do their thing to figure out what traction you have and what surface you are on and adjusts the driving experience accordingly.

It’s specific for the CX-50 and it also shows that this isn’t just another crossover that maybe looks like it can go off-road, it’s actually designed and engineered with the intent of doing so which I appreciate.

You have 2 engine choices both of which are currently in production already and they are both 2,5L 4-cylinder engines.

However no official hp rating has been revealed for the CX-50 specifically yet, but the current non-turbo version has 180hp and 186lb-ft of torque while the turbo version puts out 250hp / 320lb-ft of torque and the transmission will most likely be a 6-speed automatic.

Both versions will come with AWD as standard and there isn’t even an option to get it with FWD only. Just like it should be otherwise what’s the point of getting the 50 over the 5.

The CX-50 will be built in the U.S. and is set to go on sale in the spring of 2022.
