ScreenTimes: If Beale Street Could Talk

Logan Hill, contributor to The New York Times, hosts an advance screening of the eagerly anticipated new film “If Beale Street Could Talk” followed by a conversation with its Academy Award-winning writer/director Barry Jenkins and Academy-Award nominated composer Nicholas Britell, whose last collaboration was “Moonlight.” Based on the James Baldwin novel and set in early 1970’s Harlem, “If Beale Street Could Talk” is the story of newly engaged Tish, who races against the clock to prove her lover’s innocence while carrying their first-born child to term. Don’t miss this exceptional opportunity to hear Jenkins and Britell discuss how they adapted and scored this heartbreaking melodrama, which New York Times co-chief film critic Manohla Dargis praised as “lovely, at times piercingly elegiac.”

Filmed live at TheTimesCenter.
