The seven-speed dual-clutch transmission delivers lightning-fast shifts, while the rear-biased M xDrive system ensures power is put down efficiently. For purists, a six-speed manual may also be offered, though it’s unclear if it’ll match the DCT’s performance.

Inside, the M4 GT-R keeps its luxury roots but adds a serious motorsport vibe. The cabin features carbon-fiber bucket seats, Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, and a stripped-back interior with optional deletion of rear seats for weight savings. BMW’s latest iDrive 8.5 infotainment system remains, but with added track telemetry functions, including lap timers and performance analytics. Despite its race-ready nature, the car still includes premium features like a Harman Kardon sound system and wireless charging—proving it’s still usable as a daily driver.

Handling is where the M4 GT-R truly shines. The adaptive M suspension has been recalibrated for even sharper response, and the braking system now includes carbon-ceramic discs as standard. The rear-wheel steering system improves agility at low speeds while maintaining stability at high speeds, making it incredibly precise on twisty roads. BMW has also fine-tuned the differential and traction control systems to allow for more driver adjustability, meaning experts can push the car to its limits while beginners still feel secure.
