It’s an almost impossible question to know how much a youtuber makes, as there are 5 main factors that determine how much YouTube pays you.

HOW TO MAKE MONEY ON YOUTUBE

Factor 1: The Platform

There are lots of different platforms that you can upload videos too, but the biggest and best in my opinion are YouTube and Tiktok. I’m going to let you into a bit of a secret, the platform is the first big factor that effects how much money creators earn.

Factor 2: The Niche

There are lots of different YouTubers, and the topics they talk about have a big impact on how much money they get paid. On the lower end you have the gamers and vloggers who generally make on average $1-$4 per thousand views. In the middle you have the beauty vloggers & car channels who make on average $7-10 per thousand views.

And at the very top we have the highest paid, and you may have guessed it by now, it’s finance and business channels! which is of course what I talk about. Now we don’t have to guess about this one as I can just show you my average CPM, which is $45 per 1000 views. This is of course before YouTube take their cut!

Factor 3: Family Friendly

It’s not Youtube itself, it’s because a lot of advertisers don’t want to be associated with this kind of content. I have always had the rule to avoid swearing on the channel and to keep it family friendly, as then more people can enjoy the videos and we don’t get censored.

Factor 4: Length Of Video

This is because the longer the video the more adverts can be placed inside it. Youtube is obsessed with watch time, so as a creator it’s really important to be a good story teller, so people want to watch the video in full. This makes sense as YouTube wants to keep viewers on their platform for as long as possible.

Factor 5: Time Of Year

This has an impact on youtubers earnings, that’s why lots of them do vlogmas in December and upload every day, as near the holidays advertisers have a lots of money to spend. You also may have noticed that in January many youtubers take a break as the advertisers’s budgets drop through the floor.
