the specs as of 08-05-2023:
current rating 30amps - No way this unit as shipped can handle 30 amps. The relay is marked as 40a 250vac 1HP at 120vac 1/2 HP at 250vac. I could not find a datasheet for the relay so I can only assume that it can handle at least 30amps (the relay not the device). manufacturers website says to derate the unit to 70% of 30 amps for "safety" which would be 21 amps. www.KTNNKG.com

Second reason it cannot handle 30 amps, the power plug and socket used on it are 15 amp style nema 5-15. BUT the wire in the cord itself is 18awg which as far as I can find is only rated at 10 amps.

third reason it may not be able to handle 30 amps or even 15 amps. the traces on the circuit board are about 9.5mm wide max (unknown copper weight but looks like 2oz). If it is 2 oz copper traces then at that width it would be rated at about 10 amps. if it is 4oz copper then it would be rated at 16.5 amps.

horse power rating (motor/inductive load) - I could not find a rating for this in the listing but users reported using it on 1.5 and 2 HP motors. Problem is the relay is only rated for 1 HP (about 1080 watts).

watts - listing reports 2200 for US 4400 for EU. based on as it ships it can maybe handle 1200 watts. if it was using 14awg wire and the traces supported 15 amps the max the unit could handle is 1800 watts.

I did not try to use the unit as shipped since it was totally incapable of running the device I got it for. I modified it to be able to handle 15 amps. do not modify your unit if you do not know what you are doing.

when I applied an 11.8 amp load that settled to 10.7 amps (air conditioner) the cord and unit got fairly warm. as a comparison the AC units cord also was warm.

NO I would not use this device on anything drawing more than 10amps 1200 watts (as shipped).

it appears that it is at least rain proof, but I will not be using it outdoors.

I will have to keep an eye on this device before I can trust it.
