Blade "The Daywalker" was the first successful movie that Marvel made and it stared with Wesley Snipes. The first Blade movie debuted in August 1998 and made over $131 million on a $45 million budget. The Blade trilogy went on to make over a combined $415 million.
Yes, at least the first (2) Blade movies were successful enough for Marvel that they laid the groundwork for the MCU of today, yeah, I said it!

Important note:
Wesley Snipes's fight moves come from real skills. Snipes has a 5th-degree black belt in Shotokan Karate and a 2nd-degree black belt in Hapkido. He has also trained in Capoeira under Mestre Jelon Vieira and in a number of other disciplines including Aikido at the USA Shaolin Temple and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Kickboxing.
