Daryl and Leslie Daugs are a longtime Bremerton/Kitsap County, Washington couple known for their extensive public service, community leadership, and dedication to fostering children. Daryl has built a career bridging business, nonprofit, and government sectors. He serves as Chief of Staff / Chief Deputy Auditor for the Kitsap County Auditor’s Office, where he plays a key role in elections administration (as a WA State Certified Elections Administrator). He previously served as Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Kitsap County and led Families for Kids. He holds a degree in Organizational Management with advanced studies in Organizational Dynamics and has decades of executive leadership experience in nonprofits and public service.
He ran for mayor of Bremerton in 2009, emphasizing community-focused leadership. Daryl has also been active with United Way of Kitsap County (Past Board Chair) and other local organizations. Leslie has served multiple terms on the Bremerton City Council (including as Vice President), representing District 2 and focusing on neighborhood revitalization (e.g., Wheaton Way corridor), transit, equity issues, and constituent services. She worked as a para-educator in the Central Kitsap and Bremerton school districts and as a student advocate. She has also been involved with Kitsap Transit and other community boards.
Shared Life and Impact
Together, Daryl and Leslie have fostered 54 children, providing stable homes, mentoring, and support for youth in transition. They have three grown children and two grandchildren. Their family’s commitment to service was highlighted by their response to Hurricane Katrina, which deepened their involvement in relief and community work.
The Daugs have been active residents of Bremerton’s east side for decades, with deep roots in the Kitsap community through education, nonprofits, local government, and advocacy.
