Today I want to take you for a walk in the city centre of my hometown Volgograd and to show you the Christmas Decorations in a provincial Russian town far from Moscow. These are actually New year decorations because we do not celebrate Christmas as you do, our main holiday is New Years Day, we celebrate it on the 31st of December. New Year in Russia is not only the main winter holiday here but the main holiday of the whole year. Christmas in Russia is celebrated on the 7th of January, and it is a religious holiday. It is not celebrated by all Russians, because we live in a multi-national and multi-religious country.
We are going to start walking from the main street in Volgograd. This video was filmed on the 1st of January, the first day of the year 2020.
I`m sure that you have already seen many videos about the gorgeous Christmas decorations in Moscow. New Year in Moscow is a very beautiful holiday. Many tourists from all over the world come to Moscow Russia to celebrate the New Years day there. New Year decorations in Moscow are extremely rich and beautiful. As for me, I had a dream to film a video about New Year in Moscow 2020 and to go to the capital of Russia to have a look at the celebrations and at the beautiful Moscow new year decoration 2019, or Moscow new year decorations 2020 already, but New Year`s Day is a family holiday in Russia, that is why I prefer to celebrate it in remote Russia, in the Russian countryside, even not in my hometown Volgograd - every year we go to our parents to a village near Volgograd. I love my provincial Russian life and I like to celebrate the holidays here.
Our New year decor is not so beautiful, like in Moscow, but it is still very attractive, and I want to show you the beauty of the streets in Volgograd on holidays, the calm Russian life at the beginning of the year and some celebrations here.
