Set against the backdrop of the Cuban Missile Crisis, the story introduces a new generation of mutants as they unite to stop the manipulative villain Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon — Footloose, Mystic River), whose plan could ignite nuclear war. From Magneto’s unforgettable opening revenge scene in Argentina to the high-stakes naval confrontation in Cuba and the heartbreaking moment that ultimately divides Charles and Erik, X-Men: First Class delivers one of the most compelling origin stories in superhero history.
