We Went to Norway | HIKING IN THE DARK | Pulpit Rock at Sunrise

We have made it back to another Scandinavian country! Alaytra in particular could not be more stoked! While much of Europe has a near and dear place in our hearts, there is just something about the Scandinavian countries that hold a special place. This trip was romantic, adventurous, and just so much fun.

Day 1 started us off on an unbelievable boat ride. Honestly calling it a "boat ride," kind of feels like an understatement. Really what we experienced was sailing through the Bergen Fjord while aboard Viking-style ship... I mean... wow! Everything from the way the boat was steered, to how close to the water we were, to getting to raise and lower the sails ourselves was beyond amazing! After leaving Bergen, the inspiration for Arendelle, we had a picturesque journey South towards Stavanger, where we got to explore the town a bit and grab some great food.

The next morning, day 2, we found ourselves on a spontaneous 4AM hike towards Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen). While this may not have been one of the safest/smartest decisions of our life (especially when you factor in that we were so unprepared we didn't even have proper lights) it was so much fun. Reaching the summit with only about 20 other people present was beyond imagination. Sitting on the cliff's edge, watching the sunrise was a thrill like no other. We stayed there until, sadly, our stomachs told us it was time to start the descent. We closed out the day with more gorgeous road tripping until we landed at our beautiful hotel in Odda.

While day 3 was supposed to start with a hike up to Trolltunga, our little legs and timetable couldn't take it. Saving that monster of a hike for our next visit when we can ensure proper time to enjoy it! Instead, we got to see tons of the countryside! We made stops in Nærøyfjord, Norheimsund, and found Norway’s most visited waterfall, Steinsdalfossen. After all that exploration, we made our way safe and sound back to Bergen where we took advantage of the famous fish market.
