Double (Parallel) Bind Off Join // Tech Tues

This video demonstrates the double bind off. The result is nearly identical to the three-needle double bind off used by the Coast Salish knitters in the traditional Cowichan sweater, but uses a very different process, with only two needles, and is worked on the purl side of the fabric, for an invisible, flat join, rather than on the knit side of the fabric, for a visible, decorative purpose.

The technique is demonstrated on a sock with a shaped common heel (typically joined with a three-needle bind off, standard graft, or by binding off and sewing). You can see a video demonstration of the entire sock in my 6 Jan 2023 Casual Friday podcast here: https://youtu.be/zFavYVKCLIQ
