Medal of Honor's Genius Led to a Studio Walkout | Here's Why
Before Call of Duty ruled the gaming world, there was Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. But the story of how this legendary PC shooter was made is even crazier than the game itself.
In 2002, Electronic Arts and Steven Spielberg handed a tiny team of Quake modders the ultimate task: bring the cinematic terror of Saving Private Ryan to the PC. Against all odds, 2015, Inc. hacked an arena-shooter engine to build a masterpiece, including the most terrifying virtual D-Day landing ever created. But when the champagne dried, corporate greed took over. This is the wild story of the EA buyout, the massive studio walkout, and how a brutal corporate betrayal forced the creation of Infinity Ward—and birthed the Call of Duty franchise.
Let me know in the comments: Did you play Allied Assault back in the day, or did you start your FPS journey with Call of Duty?
