Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova flatly rejected Germany's allegations over Russian intelligence involvement in a cyberattack against the Bundestag in 2015, speaking during her weekly briefing in Moscow on Thursday.

"We resolutely reject the unfounded German allegations of Russian government structures' involvement in the 2015 hacking attack on the Bundestag," she said, describing the claims as "absurd" and "unfounded."

According to the diplomat, German media has periodically distributed the allegations since 2015.

Zakharova also commented on the arrival of the second batch of ventilators to Russia from the US.

"I think this is a great example showing that countries can work on cooperation, partnership, and collaboration during difficult times," she said.

The Russian diplomat went on to discuss US President Donald Trump's announcement to end the United States' relationship with the World Health Organisation (WHO).

"The American side did not provide clarifying comments in connection with the statement of its president. According to available information, no additional messages from Washington were received by the WHO secretariat in Geneva at the moment," she said.

"We hope that common sense will prevail. Now, as never before, solidarity and readiness for multilateral cooperation are needed," Zakharova concluded.
