The Real EV Competition - It's Not ICE

We have yet to see any competition for Tesla, by which I mean, no one else has achieved mass scale production of an EV. Let alone at a similar price point as Tesla, with features remotely close.
The Legacy ICE autos continually come up short in their offerings. Either they are holding back, and not taking EVs seriously, or it is simply not something they are capable of. The Chinese EVs, although come in with competitive prices, they are also unable to mass produce.
So what industry might actually have the right background, experience and resources, so that they can truly compete, and are possibly capable of offering an actual substitute to a Tesla.
An industry that is capable of vertical integration for an electric vehicle. One that also understands battery technology, and electronics. It surprises me that they haven't mentioned anything about starting their own EV yet. Well we will explore what industries might have a chance, and how they may go about it.
