“Puttin’ On The Ritz” - Berlin - Fred Astaire 1946
“Puttin’ On The Ritz” - Composed by Irving Berlin - Sung by Fred Astaire with Orchestra (and dancing by Fred Astaire). Released 1946. (Original release D.B 96 1930.)
Played on HMV 102 using Meltrope II “Frankensprung” tuned reproducer and Burmese Colour Needles Thorn (Fine, Black).
Bit of jollity as the days of jinglemass approach. This year we might not be seeing everyone we would wish to, but sometimes it just takes a bit of magic and a willing heart to bring the feelings into our minds. What exemplifies that better than the medium of a tap-dance record? Can we see those feet a tapping? No, but with a bit of imagination our minds can do the rest. That’s what gets us through things.
Chin up m’dears - next year we shall all be puttin’ on that Ritz.
(Recorded on a drab Tuesday to be posted when five minutes allow.)
