React POS App - Validate Login Form Data (Part 5)

In this video, we continue building our React Point of Sale (POS) Application by implementing Login Form Validation with a secure backend authentication system. This is Part 5 of our React POS series, where we connect the React frontend with a Node.js backend to validate user login credentials properly.

We start by sending login form data from the React application using Axios POST requests and handling responses with async/await. You’ll learn how to store JWT tokens securely in localStorage and redirect authenticated users to a protected dashboard using React Router’s useNavigate hook.

On the backend, we build a complete authentication system using Node.js, Express, MySQL, bcryptjs, JSON Web Tokens (JWT), and Express Validator. We validate email and password inputs, handle validation errors gracefully, prevent SQL injection using parameterized queries, and securely compare hashed passwords with bcrypt.

This tutorial also covers:

Creating secure login APIs
Handling validation and authentication errors
Generating JWT tokens with expiration
Protecting admin routes
Testing login validation in real-time

By the end of this video, your POS login system will be fully functional, secure, and production-ready. This tutorial is perfect for developers building real-world React + Node.js authentication systems.

👉 In the next video, we’ll start building the Admin Layout and Protected Routes.
