ART Works: The Throwdown 5 - Promo Video
Five Area Artists Battle for Title of Throwdown Champ in Mobile Arts Council’s Annual Fundraiser!
Watch the sparks fly as five area artists compete in a battle of creativity, producing new works of art in front of an audience, in the fifth edition of Mobile Arts Council's ART Works: The Throwdown, set for Thursday, September 15.
This year's competitors are Josh Ashley, Ian Glass, Ardith Goodwin, Melissa Munger, and Devlin Wilson. They will each be given a box of mystery items to be incorporated into their works, access to a common supply area, and 90 minutes to complete their pieces, which will be sold in a live auction. The artist whose piece is sold for the largest amount will be named Throwdown Champion.
While watching the competition and bidding, partygoers can enjoy the music of D.J. Hot Lobster, food provided by Heroes and The Royal Scam, plenty of beer, wine and, of course, MAC's signature cocktail: "The Red Rooster.”
Tickets cost $30 and can be purchased at Mobile Arts Council (318 Dauphin St.), online at http://macthrowdown5.brownpapertickets.org, or for $35 at the door the night of the event. They are also available at Ashland Gallery and B&B Pet Stop.
The fun begins at 6 PM at Alabama Contemporary Art Center, 301 Conti Street. Get your tickets today and help support the Mobile Arts Council!
