As Param Bir Singh On Verge Of 'Absconder' Tag, NCP & BJP Concur 'He Can't Avoid Probe'

As the Maharashtra CID is all set to declare Param Bir Singh as an 'absconder', the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday highlighted the conspiracy hatched by the former Mumbai Police Commissioner against Republic and its Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami. BJP leader Ram Kadam said that it was nothing but a 'political vendetta, in which the whole of India was with the Republic and Arnab'.

Speaking on the actions initiated by the CID, Ram Kadam said, "Param Bir Singh, who is a DG rank IPS officer, should go to the investigative agency's office and co-operate with the investigation. He cannot avoid investigation. Unfortunately, for so many months, he is absconding and this message is sending a wrong message."

'Govt is compelled to take action against Param Bir Singh': NCP
Speaking to Republic, Brijmohan Shrivastav of NCP which is a part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra asserted that Param Bir Singh had been given sufficient time to produce himself before the investigating agency. "He is still absconding and nobody knows where he is so the govt is compelled to take the decision to declare him absconding."

The NCP leader added, "This is very unfortunate. he is served the state and is still not obeying the laws." The statement of the political leaders come after sources informed Republic that the CID in the extortion case filed at Marine Drive is next going to initiate a procedure under sections 82 and 83 of the CRPC to declare Param Bir as an absconder and to attach his properties. Also, the CID is going to write to the Home Ministry to issue a Red Corner Notice against Param Bir Singh.
