Back deck privacy screen idea
Give your yard better privacy and curb appeal with this easy little project!
We also added some LED string lights from Home Depot and setup them up on a digital timer, just set it and forget it!
Enjoy!

July 2 2020 - here is an equipment list - all in the plumbing aisle of your favourite hardware store:
Frame
- Galvanized steel pipe to whatever length you need
(https://www.homedepot.ca/product/aqua-dynamic-galvanized-steel-pipe-3-4-inch-x-10-foot/1000126375)
- Floor flange, same diameter as the pipe you buy
(https://www.homedepot.ca/product/stz-fitting-galvanized-iron-floor-flange-3-4-inch/1000103295)
- 90-degree elbow, again same diameter
(https://www.homedepot.ca/product/stz-fitting-galvanized-iron-90-degree-elbow-3-4-inch/1000126097)
Fence:
Artificial ivy trellis
(https://www.homedepot.ca/product/naturae-decor-36-inch-x-72-inch-expandable-ivy-leaf-trellis/1001074101)
UV-resistant cable ties (don't snap in cold weather or sunlight over the years)
Lights:
These have been incredible! Survived year-round Canadian winter (down to -30c!)
And then, if needed, just buy a T-Connector to connect additional shorter pieces of pipe together to give you the dimensions you need. I also bought camouflage duct tape from a hunting shop and put this on to the pipes so the bright steel doesn't shine through the fence.
Procedure:
Screw Floor flange into wall of house
Screw 3ft pipe into that flange
Screw t-connector onto other end of pipe
Screw in down-pipe to another flange on the deck rail
Screw in more pipe into T-Connector
Screw in 90-degree elbow at the end of your frame
Screw in downpipe at end of your frame
Screw into another floor flange on deck rail
Cable tie ivy trellis to the frame you just made
String up your lights (I used bird feeder hooks, the steel ones, and attached that to the steel frame above)
Sit down, have several beers (and/or wine), and marvel at your awesomeness :)
