Phsar Nath, Battambang’s colonial-era market”

Phsar Nath is an important architectural landmark in Battambang city with a long history and high cultural value. It was built in 1936 by French architects who also designed the Central Market in Phnom Penh and Ben Thanh Market in Saigon, Vietnam.
Daily Life and Cuisine of the Khmer People
Rooted in tradition and harmony with nature, the daily life of the Khmer people reflects simplicity, resilience, and strong family ties. Mornings begin early—whether in rice fields, markets, or kitchens—guided by rhythms passed down through generations.

Food is more than nourishment; it is a reflection of culture and identity. Steamed rice anchors every meal, accompanied by seasonal vegetables, freshwater fish, and aromatic herbs like lemongrass and galangal. Every dish tells a story—of the land, the seasons, and the spirit of sharing that defines Khmer life.
