Studio Visit 10: Art with my 3-Year-Old - What Works for Us

I love to make art with my three-year-old. I try to set him up for success with tools and materials that are easy for him to use & highly pigmented. I also protect his body and the floor from most of the mess. Then, it’s all about making him feel that he’s in charge of the art. I don’t tell him what to do or join in without an invitation. It’s not an art lesson, it’s play time. I want him to feed the flame of creativity with his own ideas. Time spent exploring and experimenting is time well spent. Not all kids are the same, so let me know what works for you and your child when you make art together!
