Prehistoric Sinker Cypress Log - Buried 30 Feet Deep for 5000+ Years!!! - Part 2 of 2
We were given the opportunity & immense challenge in milling this extremely rare and ancient Sinker Cypress stump. It was originally excavated nearly 30 feet deep near the Mississippi River. The tree was estimated to be about 2000 years old at death. The stump is believed to have been buried for 5000+ years. Ultimately, a sample of this wood is being carbon dated by the University of Arkansas for final confirmation. Such a unique, challenging and rewarding opportunity for the Texas Urban Sawmill. We will share the carbon dating information when the tested is completed to all our SUBSCRIBERS! So don't miss out & PLEASE subscribe and also share this video.
PART 1 is focused on the arrival and all the prep work that was involved prior to milling the stump into live edge slabs. The stump was over 8 feet tall and weighed about 10,000 lbs!!! Watch your hands, feet and arms!!
PART II is focused on the milling process and showing the natural beauty found in the "soul of the tree".
