Back in the present, Murderbot is ambushed, dragged down a corridor and strapped to a table as it waits for a chance to escape. While under attack it quietly sings the Sanctuary Moon theme, then tries to fight free but cannot stop a Combat Override Module being activated and locked in place. Dr. Mensah bursts in with a mining drill to disable the assailant, but Murderbot—wounded and slipping in and out of consciousness—hallucinates Sanctuary Moon scenes as it’s carried through the halls.
