Leprechaun 4: In Space (1996) VHS

Leprechaun 4: In Space (1996) is a direct-to-video sci-fi horror comedy that exists for one reason: someone at Trimark saw the Apollo 13 promotional artwork and thought replacing Tom Hanks with the Leprechaun was a viable business decision. That's the documented origin of this film -- a senior executive had the artwork mocked up, showed it around, and a script was commissioned from there. Warwick Davis returns as the Leprechaun, this time set in the year 2096, plotting to marry an alien princess and claim her royal title while a platoon of space marines tries to stop him. Notably, the title character is never once referred to as a Leprechaun anywhere in the film -- only "alien," "monster," or "bastard."

It's cheap, it's chaotic, and it has absolutely no interest in continuity with the previous three films. The kills are absurd, the sets are bargain bin sci-fi, and somehow Warwick Davis remains the most watchable thing in every single frame. It bombed critically, went straight to video, and became the kind of late night rental that VHS collectors still track down specifically because of how fully it commits to its own nonsense. This is peak 90s direct-to-video horror and it belongs in any serious cult collection.
