Projection of points is a basic concept in Engineering Drawing used to represent the position of a point in three-dimensional space on two-dimensional reference planes called the Horizontal Plane (HP) and Vertical Plane (VP). The projection is obtained by drawing imaginary perpendicular lines, known as projectors, from the point to these planes. The view projected on the VP is called the front view or elevation, while the view projected on the HP is called the top view or plan. The intersection of HP and VP forms the XY reference line, which helps identify the location of the point in different quadrants. Projection of points forms the foundation for understanding more advanced topics such as projection of lines, planes, and solids in engineering graphics and technical drawing.
