UI Stead Family Children's Hospital 2021 Kid Captain: Lucas Moore

Lucas Moore was born in his hometown hospital where doctors told his parents he had a loud heart murmur. He was diagnosed with having a large hole in his heart and had open heart surgery when he was 3 months old. He continued to battle several infections over the next two years and was referred to University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, where he was diagnosed with DiGeorge Syndrome, which results in poorly developed body systems because of a weakened immune system.
